Absence
Aasia Majeed
Juicy fruits and fragrant flowers
Rendered colorless and tasteless now
Oh, what can the reason be?
Dishonesty and human errors
Honey bees miss sucking floral nectar
Now flowers are stained with blood
Traffic lanes and busy streets missed the little fairies, toing and froing
Where they played hide and seek and ran till late night
The terror of kidnapping and rape has now limited their freedom
I missed those days when the hearts of humans were pure and free from malice
The festivals-- be it Eid or Diwali, all celebrations together
Together in grief and joy, together on birth and funerals
No names to call, no sects to blame, no religion of others-- all together
I miss the ocean laughter,
War-torn children's joyful echoes,
Floating on waves of innocence,
Their homes still carry the remnants of their dead bodies
I miss the legends of intellect; they died and became the victim of their conspiracies one by one.
Like an old soul, I want to live in memories,
Feeling the absence of me in my own life.
